A petunia of Italian breeding by the Farao company with unsurpassed characteristics. Thanks to the male sterility gene, it produces a staggering number of flowers and blooms continuously from spring to late autumn. The hybrid forms powerful bushes 25-30 cm high with intensive branching. In width they reach 60-80 cm, but with regular feeding they grow significantly larger. Flowers with a spectacular "star" pattern are not damaged by rain and wind. Petunia of the Gioconda series is a serious competitor to surfinias, which can only be propagated vegetatively. It will decorate flower beds, borders, hanging baskets and garden vases.
* The expressiveness and size of the "star" may vary depending on growing conditions.
Seeds in pellets! The pellets are placed on the soil surface without embedding them, well moistened from a sprayer. When moisture gets on the pellet, the shell should dissolve. The crops are covered with glass to maintain constant humidity until full emergence. February sowings require additional lighting.
* Surfinia, Fortunia, Frillitunia are the most famous hybrids of trailing petunias, created specifically for hanging baskets and balcony boxes.
In a warm, sunny summer, these plants form elegant cascades of flowers 60-100 cm long. Their color is very diverse – from white to dark purple (often with lace ruffles and dark veins on the petals).
These plants are propagated by cuttings and seeds. They are sown early: in February - March. The seeds are scattered in containers on the surface of the soil and kept at a temperature of +20...+25 degrees. As soon as they begin to peck, the crops are moved to a sunny windowsill. The growing seedlings are pricked into plastic cups, illuminated daily, increasing the daylight hours to 10-12 hours a day, and periodically fed with a liquid fertilizer solution.
When the threat of frost has passed, the plants are transplanted into hanging plastic baskets with a volume of 3-3.5 liters. A layer of expanded clay is poured onto the bottom of the container as drainage, then soil, adding a handful of universal complex fertilizer and one or two cups of perlite.
One or two well-developed bushes are planted in each basket: with good care, the plants quickly grow into a blooming ball.
Trailing petunia hybrids love the sun, need regular watering (on hot days - twice a day) and frequent feeding (once a week, or even more often) with a special fertilizer for flowering plants.
